"This summer I was in Ecuador, for 7
weeks. I had found APF on the internet as the only Spanish
school which also organizes voluntary work. So I decided to
receive Spanish lessons the first three weeks in Quito and
then to travel to Loja, in the south, for helping in the
Podocarpus National Park. I got one-to-one-lessons with a
very nice teacher. I did not only learn the language, but also
much about culture and history. In the afternoons we made
excursions to important places of the city such as museums,
the equator, and at weekends we went to the jungle or traveled
on the roof of a train to Cotopaxi. APF has connections to
people in the whole country, so in Loja I was received as a
friend. I lived with a very nice family with to little
daughters. Every day I could accompany the National Park
guardians to help them with their activities, walk around on
the paths enjoying the incredible nature of the rain forest
and to give opinions and suggestions afterwards. After two
weeks I travel back to Quito, where I lived again in the
apartment near the school with some other students from
Germany, Norway, England and Australia. I always had much fun
there and we often went out at night enjoying the many bars
and discos of Quito."
